Much of the end of Lesson 2 reminded me of my Math, Yes, Math class that I have taught many times at festivals and yarn shops. It is showing you how to use the info you gain from your swatch and make it work to educate you on what adjustments to make to a pattern to get the results that you desire. I am working on a series of videos that explain how to use the booklet I have for my Math class. Sign up for my newsletter to learn when that is available.
Part of the Lesson was to work a swatch in stockinette flat and then do a cheater section in the round. After blocking I was surprised to learn, by the measurements, that my gauge from flat to in the round isn’t too far off from each other.

I am still having a “rowing out” issue when working large sections of stockinette flat, as you can see in the photo. I have an idea that I haven’t tried yet, but will soon. What if I worked the purl rows Portuguese style? I would still work them left handed as purl stitches, but the Portuguese style tightens things up just a bit for me and I think it just might work. I will report back on that in the future.
I am falling a bit behind where I want to be with this project but I am still enjoying what I am learning, seeing new, or different, application of things I already know and I am excited to see what’s next.
Happy making!
