US Made Hooks and Needles

With the talk of tariffs be placed on various countries by the US, my desire to buy things made in the US went up. I have planned a couple of stitch alongs for later this year and want to advise the stitchers on hooks and needles that are good choices for the items we will be making. Then I realized that buying hooks and needles from the US might be the best way to go. It’s still early in the game but I want to be prepared.

I know that Boye hooks were made in the US for a long time, it’s stamped directly onto the hook. A Google search for Boye brings up THIS link, which goes to an Amazon site, but it is the Boye shop on Amazon and it says country of origin is the US. They don’t have as many choices for hooks and needles as they have offered in the past, but I’m glad they are still around.

The purple shaft of a crochet hook stamped with "Boye U.S.A." lays on a gray background.

Brittany has beautiful hooks and needles. I have some of these on order. These are made of wood.

Denise is still around and making hooks and needles here in the states. This was the first set of interchangeable needles I had. I still have it. These are made of plastic.

For knitting needles, a couple of Google searches later I found Indian Lake Artisans. I have no experience with them yet, but I do plan to place an order. They are a bit more expensive than we are used to but they are wood and made in the USA at what looks like a living wage. I’m excited to learn more about them.

Another great place to pick up hooks and needles is thrift stores. Often you will find them bagged together for a much lower price than buying them new.

Reminder that none of these links are affiliate links. I share what I love, know and find.

This is by no means an exhaustive list, please share any one else you know that is making hooks and needles in the US.

Where will you be sourcing your hooks and needles in the future?

Happy Making!
