I have this sun hat, and I’ve had it for a really long time. It was a $3 find at Wal-Mart. It sat on the dashboard of my truck for years, so that I’d have it wherever I needed it. Through the sun and everything it has survived.
It went with me, folded in quarters, shove into a bag on a mission trip to a reservation in Lame Deer, Montana.
Since moving to New Mexico it has hung on the corner of a chair in the dining room so that I can grab it on my way out the door, front or back. It has been a constant companion, went to San Diego last summer for the graduation of our youngest from MCRD.
Now I wear it walking to the coffee shop, church and campus. Because it “goes out” so much I decided it needed at little more something. I set to work crocheting a bow for it and grabbed a book of flowers, both crochet and knit, from the shelf and over the course of a couple of weeks, stitching here and there I decorated my sun hat. What do you think?
It’s first big outing was a wedding last weekend. On the way there we stopped under the pecan trees and took some photos on HW 28.
